Once again we are gathering at Cafe Express, our former "pre-meeting" spot.

Please be assured that the Authors and Publishers Association is (still) alive and well and we have no intention of disbanding. In fact, we'll (finally) have some exciting new developments to announce soon. We strongly believe that there is a real need for an organization such as this one. After all, we're not just another writers' group; we are truly devoted to authors who want to publish and successfully market their works.

Stay tuned here for updates. Meanwhile, we welcome your comments, questions and suggestions. This is your organization, and we really do want our members to become more involved.

For questions or comments about the APA, please email:

APA MEETINGS... COMING SOON:

As of now, we have suspended our formal monthly meetings, which had been held
on the third Thursday of every month at the Museum of Printing History in Houston.
But we're still holding our informal third-Thursday networking meetings at Cafe Express in River Oaks, Houston (see above for details).
Details about seminars and workshops will be published here as they occur.

Keep your eye on this page for announcements of exciting forthcoming events: we may have suspended our monthly meetings, but we're still planning workshops and seminars that will benefit the growing community of independent authors and publishers. We're going to be hosting another one of our popular "So You Want to Be Published" free-for-alls, and a couple of PMA-related events you won't want to miss. After ten years, we're still growing and changing, and we're working overtime to make the AAP a much more exciting, useful and fun organization for authors and publishers. So stay with us. And if you're not with us yet, now's the best time to join us!

APA WORKSHOPS

BACK TO TOP

YES, MORE WORKSHOPS ARE COMING!

We know we've been promising this for a long time, so don't give up on us; we are still actively planning our next series of workshops and seminars. Some of the topics we're planning for the coming year are...

* Marketing & PR
* Legal issues in publishing
* Working with literary agents and publishers
* Book production: working with printers and other service providers
* Media relations
* Internet presence and online marketing for authors
* Software for book designers (PageMaker/InDesign, FrameMaker, etc.)
* Screenwriting

Watch this page for announcements about upcoming APA workshops, seminars, and conferences. And, by the way, if you are interested in teaching, or participating in, one of these exciting events -- or if you would like to volunteer to be on a planning committee -- or even if you just have a terrific idea for a future workshop -- please contact our president, Ron Kaye, at moonshad@swbell.net.
