APA membership... what's in it for me?
We are
in the process of revamping our organization and updating
our list of benefits -- and, perhaps, even updating this
web site, eventually... :-)
Currently
(as of Summer 2009), we are still – in theory,
anyway! – having informal monthly networking/dinner
meetings at our former "pre-meeting" location, Cafe Express in
River Oaks, Houston. Our meeting location and
formats may change as we work together to create the
"new" APA. And in the months to come, we will
be asking for your feedback on the benefits you would
like.
Here
is a partial list of membership benefits and
opportunities we have offered:

with peers/industry professionals.
- Educational/informational
speakers & workshops.
- Access
to industry information, resources, and reps.
- Monthly
speakers or expert panels on pertinent industry
topics.
- Discount
at COPY.COM, CopyMax, CopyDR. (the latest
addition to our ever-growing list of selected
retailers). Watch this page for announcements of
additional discounts.
- Discounts
on APA workshops & tapes.
- Membership
directory.
- Informative
periodic e-newsletter.
- Emailed/faxed
local publishing industry updates.
- Listings
on the APA web site, including a brief
description of you and/or your services and/or
your book(s), plus a link to your website. PLEASE
NOTE: You must request a listing by sending an
email with your name, a description limited to
100 words or less, and your website URL to info@authorsandpublishers.org. (One URL
per member.) Subject line: "Member listing
requested."
(Note that this is a change from our previous
practice of separate listings for books and
services by members.)
- SPAN (Small
Publishers Association of North America)
membership discount.
- Networking
information table at meetings and events.
- A
chance to participate in special events.
